Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) is an approach to language teaching and learning. Its primary purpose is to integrate technology, internet, computer, and software programs with the face-to-face language education.
CALL provides an effective learning environment that student can practice interactively. ıt supports and develops learner-autonomy and increases student motivation.
HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF CALL
- Behavioristic CALL
- Communicative CALL
- Integrative CALL
2) Communicative-Cognitive CALL: ıt focus on commnicative exercises and the main objective is fluency. Students use the computers to stimulate discussion, writing or chritical thinking and also spelling, grammar checkers and word processors.
3) Integrative CALL has view of sociocognitive. Multimedia CALL and Web-based CALL has important roles to social interaction. Computrers are authentic discourse in this time.
CALL Software
- provide realistic, native-speaker models of the language in a variety of media
- offer a language learning curriculum
- do a needs assesment
- determine the best next step for the learner and provide practice with that skill area

Synchronous Communication
Synchronous is real time (online chat).
Asynchronous Communication
Asynchronous communication is provided via internet indirectly. E-mail, discussion forum, message board are the main samples to it.
The Future of CALL
Computers have important role in our life. They have progressive future and surely effect students and teachers like other people.
Students have opportunities developing their writing with electronic literacy and increasing incorporation of intelligent CALL in to the classroom and also finding, evaluating and critically interpreting net-based information.
WEB 2.0
Web 2.0 provies increasing of knowledge through web based tools to participate in online communities. they have more active role of potential writer, contributor and editor so they can create, consume and edit interactively.

is a web-page. Any users can access the other wikis.
it is collaborative. Students:

Blog:
personal commentaries. It is composed of texts, images and related links. Readers:
- respond back to entiries
- join the discussion
